Crafting My Digital Sales & Marketing Strategy
Launching a product is one thing, selling it and effectively is another. This week, I shifted from design mode to sales strategy mode as I prepared to launch my Study Abroad in Korea Survival Kit, a digital bundle that combines a polished PDF guide and interactive Google Sheet.
Guided by my marketing plan, my focus was on creating a clear, trustworthy sales experience that connects with students preparing to study abroad.
Building the Sales Page
Following my marketing plan, I chose Gumroad as my main platform because it’s simple, accessible, and perfect for digital downloads. The sales page was built around the three pillars outlined in my plan: personal, practical, and polished.
I designed the layout to be friendly yet professional: a clean headline, short description, and mockups that preview both the PDF and spreadsheet. Blurred visuals give a peek into the content while protecting the full design.
I also repurposed these visuals for my email blast and Facebook group posts, ensuring all touchpoints felt cohesive and on-brand.
Pricing the Kit
Pricing was one of my most important decisions. My marketing plan emphasized balancing credibility and accessibility, especially since my target audience is primarily college students.
After researching comparable digital products, I landed on a $5 price point, affordable enough to encourage first-time buyers but high enough to reflect real value and design quality.
Positioning the kit as a digital toolkit (rather than a simple guide) helps reinforce that it’s a small, one-time investment that saves hours of research and uncertainty.
Customer Psychology in Action
My marketing plan focused on trust and relevance, so I approached my sales copy with a more conversational tone for a community-driven brand like Postcards from Korea.
Each channel plays a role: blog posts act as teasers, emails share behind-the-scenes details, and Facebook groups offer relatable recommendations. Together, these pieces create a friendly, story-driven funnel that feels authentic rather than pushy.
Thinking Ahead
Building my sales strategy turned out to be one of the most interesting parts of this process. My marketing plan served as a roadmap, helping me think beyond design to user experience; from what buyers see, feel, and trust.
This process also got me excited about what’s next. I’d love to expand into more social media marketing on Instagram and TikTok, where visual storytelling could bring the Survival Kit to life in new ways.
Maybe that means building out more add-on guides, city-focused toolkits or itineraries, or continuing to grow this one over time. Either way, this experience showed me how creativity and strategy can work hand in hand and I am excited to keep exploring!
