As the Creative Intern on the Digital Design team at Tarte Cosmetics, I supported the creation of on-brand visual assets across email and multiple e-commerce platforms, including Tarte.com, Amazon, TikTok Shop, and QVC.

Working from marketing briefs through final approvals, I contributed to production-ready designs used in high-traffic campaigns, gaining hands-on experience designing at scale while collaborating closely with senior designers in a fast-paced, real-world beauty brand environment.

Tarte is a global beauty brand known for its high-performing products, bold visual identity, and strong digital presence. With millions of customers and followers, Tarte’s digital ecosystem plays a critical role in product discovery, engagement, & conversion.

As a fast-paced, campaign-driven brand, Tarte relies on consistent, high-quality digital assets to support launches, promotions, and retail moments across platforms including email, Tarte.com, Amazon, TikTok Shop, and QVC.

While the brand maintains a strong and recognizable visual system, digital assets must be continuously adapted to meet the unique constraints, formats, and user behaviors of each platform, often under tight timelines and multiple rounds of review.

Our Objectives

  • Support high-visibility digital campaigns through on-brand, conversion-focused design

  • Drive engagement and product awareness during key retail moments, including Prime Day and holiday promotions

  • Maintain visual consistency while designing within platform-specific constraints

  • Learn and contribute within a collaborative, in-house digital creative team

  • Support the full lifecycle of digital assets, from marketing brief to final deployment

The Ask:

Tarte’s digital team needed visually engaging, conversion-focused assets that could adapt seamlessly across platforms, each with different creative constraints, audience behaviors, & technical requirements.

Assets had to remain consistent with Tarte’s established brand identity while moving quickly through review cycles during active promotional periods, including major retail moments like Prime Day and holiday campaigns.

Collaboration played a central role throughout this project. I worked closely with the Digital Creative Design team, receiving ongoing guidance and feedback.

Through team critiques and reviews, I gained mentorship in:

  • Adobe Firefly (AI) and Photoshop techniques

  • Iterating designs efficiently based on creative direction

  • Understanding how internal reviews ensure quality and consistency at scale

Collaboration:

To support a holiday-focused email promoting mini products as stocking stuffers, I worked from a marketing brief to design motion-forward visuals that would capture attention and drive clicks.

My contributions included:

  • Creating animated elements to bring the email to life

  • Updating and refining the layout to align with campaign goals

  • Sourcing, resizing, and optimizing product imagery

  • Experimenting with backgrounds and animation styles

  • Using Adobe Firefly AI to concept and design a playful stocking-themed visual

Multiple animation and background variations were explored before finalizing a design that balanced festive energy with clarity and brand consistency.

Email Marketing:

Beyond email, I supported digital graphics across Tarte’s website and retail partners. These assets were designed to guide users through product discovery while meeting platform-specific standards.

Asset types included:

  • Product Detail Page (PDP) graphics

  • Website banners and mobile-first assets

  • Amazon marketplace visuals, including Prime Day–specific assets

  • TikTok Shop and QVC promotional graphics

This work provided insight into how a single campaign adapts across platforms, with each channel requiring different sizing, messaging hierarchy, and visual strategy.

The final deliverables included a cohesive set of digital assets used across email, web, and e-commerce platforms. Each piece was designed to align with Tarte’s visual identity while optimizing clarity, engagement, and performance across distinct digital environments.

  • Email Opens: 1.5M opens within 72 hours

  • Assets deployed across Tarte.com, Amazon, TikTok Shop, and QVC each with over 5 Million views

  • Prime Day–specific visuals supported a major retail moment
