Article Promotion on Socials

Promoting a (digital) project on socials is one of the best ways to get more eyes on it. I wanted to share how I am promoting my upcoming article titled “K-Design: Seoul’s Impact on Global Graphic” on medium.com through social media.

One of my largest on-going projects is a long form article about the global impact and style of South Korean Design. In preparation of its debut, I created 3 promotional social media posts using Instagram, Linkedin & Twitter/X for when the article is posted (Edit: It is now posted!)

View mock-ups of each platform with a graphic and caption as well as a brief explanation of the platform and reasoning behind the post.

Instagram

For Instagram, I wanted to hook in the viewer by name-dropping famous South Korean shows and artists. The caption asks a question with a brief answer leading the audience to become more interested in the topic, and therefore more likely to read the article. The call to action is to click the article link in the bio.

As for the image, I designed a fun and interesting graphic that showcases the fun style of K-Design with a background image of signage in South Korea. I also overlaid the text “그래픽 디자인” which means graphic design in Korean. My goal was to make a bold graphic with images of Seoul for users to stop scrolling and wonder what it is about, read the caption and then the go to the blog.

Known for its iconic TV shows like “Squid Games”, the creation of sensational artists like BTS and BlackPink and its life-changing skincare, South Korea is taking the world by storm (…or should I say wave?).  #KWave

Now, what do all of these have in common? They all share innovative concept design.

From striking advertisements to concept cafes to artist merchandise to package design, Kdesign continues to have a global impact.

Explore the unique style of South Korean design and both its global and domestic influence through my new article “K-Design: Seoul’s Impact on Global Graphics”.

Linkedin

For Linkedin, I wanted to engage the audience with more information in the caption. Since Linkedin is a more educational and informative platform, having enough detail before moving to the article is crucial. The call to action is to click the link within the post.

As for the graphic, I designed a simplistic visual that showcases different areas of promotion that are influenced by K-Design. Overall, this visual is eye-catching and will cause people to stop scrolling, read the caption, and then move onto the blog with the attached link.

Design plays a crucial part of our everyday lives, around the world.

As Hallyu (Korean Wave) continues to have a global influence through music, fashion, entertainment, beauty and more, design is no different. From advertisements to music merchandise to package design, Korean design, or Kdesign is taking the industry by storm.

Twitter/X

Although Twitter/X is a platform that relies heavily on text, it is important to be concise and casual when posting. Additionally, the users of twitter are often part of a fandom, such as KPop. I wanted to briefly name drop Kpop and Squid Games again, while introducing the blog’s topic.

In terms of the graphic, I wanted to have the background image relate to KPop in order to catch the eye of fans on the platform, but still have the graphic be engaging for others who are interested in global design. Overall the simple graphic with casual caption would lead people to click into the post’s link (call to action).

South Korea is taking the world by storm, but why? There are several reasons for this K-Wave, of course… but innovative concept design is definitely one of them.
